How does the work you personally do directly impact patients?
I work in product development so we have just launched a new product that will allow physicians to treat disease below the knee. Offering a product with higher performance and more reliable and stronger performance. More patients can benefit from that. We're saving people's feet.
How does knowing you're improving people's lives affect what you do?
I think there's a stronger sense of purpose because of that. I think we can feel it talking directly to the physicians and understanding what works for them, how to improve their procedures and seeing their vested interest in improving the lives of patients. It all happens by providing physicians their tools. Fulfilling the purpose of improving people's lives. Keeping them walking and living fuller lives.
What specific elements of your work are you particularly proud of?
I think it's the team, the people, being a relatively smaller company atmosphere, there's a lot of passionate people. I think it's working and helping develop the other employees, guide them in a leadership role, mentor and provide direction for those with less experience.
What motivates you at ev3?
The challenge. Challenging products and technologies. We have great competition to keep us on our toes - that motivates me. And it's great to succeed in a team environment.
