How does the work you personally do directly impact patients?
I think what it does affect is the product quality, making sure what we put out the door is safe for people. We know the benefit of how it can help patients. There are no mistakes made, we can't afford that. Product quality is always No. 1.How does knowing you're improving people's lives affect what you do?
It makes me think twice, you don't just shoot off the hip and use the first idea. Any idea you come up with you have to adhere to the product standards. You want the end product to be the best for the patients. What specific elements of your work are you particularly proud of?
Product quality. I take pride in my work. I'm always conscious of the quality of my work. Good quality medical devices. I'm proud to have my work help my company; I can help improve the cost margins. What I do keeps my company healthy and growing and helps patients at the same time. That's the proudest part of my day. What are some of the great technologies you get to work with on a day-to-day basis?
Working on some of the cutting edge catheters used to enter neurovascular space. They're tiny; it’s amazing that we can assemble things this small to go into the human body. Previously you'd have to go through brain surgery. Now you don't have to put patients through that. We can use less invasive procedures. What motivates you at ev3?
Other than helping people, it's the technical challenge the industry brings. It's a much newer field. Only 10-20 years old. There is still a lot of breakthroughs happening. Being a part of that is unbelievable. Coming to work and being able to say that you can come up with a design and help launch it to help patients is an incredible joy.Return to Profiles
